SHION TANAKA

Born in Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. From early childhood, she attended a Christian church and grew up listening to music as hymns of praise beside her mother, who was a church musician. She began playing the piano at the age of five. During her university years, she encountered the pipe organ at the campus chapel. She studied the organ under Kiyoko Takahashi at Doshisha Women's College of Liberal Arts in Kyoto starting in 2011. She graduated from the Department of Music, Faculty of Liberal Arts at the same university in 2014, majoring in organ, and completed the music postgraduate course there in 2015. In 2014, she received the Shokeikai Music Award from the music department's alumni association. In 2018, she moved to France and studied for two years under Éric Lebrun at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Saint-Maur-des-Fossés (CRR Saint-Maur-des-Fossés), located on the outskirts of Paris.
